I woke up in a cold sweat one morning from a dream... One like I've never had before or since... A Dream that would change my whole way of thinking... My entire life in fact... I quickly found myself yearning to be back in this place... A place so surreal, yet so very desolate... I laid my head back down and began to count to 100... In hopes that I could go back before I forgot... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... "What time is school today?" 6...., 7......., 8........... "Please go back to sleep.... 9.............., 10..................., 11....................., "I do miss her," 12.............................., 13............., 14......................., "Goodnight dumb ass."
Suddenly, I was back... There I was standing on the biggest stage that I could have ever imagined... There was no sound, except for my shoes that squeaked as I moved around... I began to feel a warmth on my back... A presence you could say... So I turned around into this Blinding light... I squinted my eyes until I could see a formation of letters... It became apparent that there were words lit up in these lights... "What the hell?" Then it was Crystal... A Buyer's Ride... "A Buyer's Ride?" I stared at these words for what seemed like several hours, until the most annoying sound started to creep in... beep, beep, Beep, Beeeep, BEEEEP, BEEEEP, BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPP... I woke with the biggest smile and I quickly grabbed for my pen and paper that I always kept right by my bed... Then I wrote the words down on a piece of paper for the first time... A BUYER'S RIDE........ That day I was useless to the Real World... Several months passed without any more thoughts about the Dream... Then one day as I was walking the roommates' dog, Sissy, the words came out of my mouth... "A Buyer's Ride." I began to understand the meaning... "I BOUGHT into this Dream to make music my life, and I'll take it for the RIDE no matter where it may lead." A Buyer's Ride... From that day forth, I committed myself to those words... "That would be a great name for a Band." As Fate would have it, A Buyer's Ride did live as a band... Twice in fact... Both of these Projects were very unique to each other... They had different members... A different sound... They were Worlds apart... But things change... Bands Stray... And Names just fade... I began to doubt the purpose of the words... The Dream... I truly believed they were meant for a Band... And then after several years, the words began to breathe new life... A Buyer's Ride... They became the snapshot of my life to that point... The mistakes made, the luxuries enjoyed, the unexplained stories, the contemplations, the realizations, the loves left behind, the unforgiving lessons, the voices of change, the moments that stand alone... That's what it was, a Snapshot... A Picture... A Story... It began to glow brighter and brighter in my mind... I finally I said to myself, "What a great name for an album. A Buyer's Ride by CHAPA." ![]() Le album is available for purchase from Le Store.
Rising Up Between Mistakes This is my "It's going to be Ok" song... I've often risked everything with blind ignorance... In hopes to relieve the stress from the bad decisions, and unfortunate disasters that seem to plague us all... An upbeat outlook on a sometime Up an Down life... A Just reminder? To get up, wipe yourself off, and ride again... At least until the next mistake. Only Me One of the 1st songs that I've written that began as a collaboration... A story about a time in my life where the basic needs that you and I take for granted were in question... I worked with a group of about 15 guys that were on the lower end of the mental scale... And I loved them all... This was my attempt to be a voice for a unfortunate few... The loose ground to fill the hole in the soul. Edna's Thrill A True Ghost story from the days of my youth. This twisted tale about three naive boys, and a 13 year old girl who walked alone in the spirit world. Speaking to her through the Ouija board, it became clear that we were not only talking to her, but someone else. A stronger, more fiendish spirit with no name. An honest mistake to ask for a Sign. But a mistake nonetheless. Honestly A personal song for my soul. A reflection piece that combines the struggles of my past, with the unforeseen path that lies in front. The Curiosity that drives us all. The Ambition that destroys the weak. My simple approach to this complicated thing called Life. Masquerader's Downfall My vibrant side with some Anger. To know that I've always put myself behind others is the essence of this piece. I found that most of my anguish came from the desire to please others. A self realization to this downfall in my character that I hid in plain site. Well You Wish Thee A Goodbye to the One I loved. Well You Wish Thee. The choices that I've made have always hung around my neck like a noose. The exact moment of clarity happened to be the exact moment of pain. My only love song with a unbending look at my own loneliness and miscalculations. I wish you Well Baby Girl. From Your Cloud My Father's song. This piece took me several years to get out. And it will take me several more to get over. This is a look at the desperation of one moment in time and the nightmares that followed. The day I watched my Father leave this world to follow in the footsteps of his Fathers. I should be so lucky. All 3 Faces A Schizophrenic look at my life. In All 3 Faces, I allowed those inner voices to speak out and be heard. We all have them in the background leading us astray or showing us the light. They are all around and are as uniquely different from each other, as we are uniquely different from each other. An illness of love. Who Said That? A Pause In Life One particular experience that changed the balance in my thinking. I was confronted with the fact of being unprepared, by someone equally unprepared. An opinion from a passing soul that far out reached the determination of my life. |
